The Juniper Tree in Chiang Mai is situated in a secluded tropical garden close to the city centre.

It is a great place for rest and restoration, for those needing sabbaticals, for medicals, counselling, child birth, visa stays, and those who are looking or working in missions.

Booking

  • We operate on a full board basis, providing three meals per day (with the exception of dinner on Sundays), with meals being eaten family-style at set times

  • We provide a personal laundry service and laundry facilities at no extra charge

  • Fans and Air-conditioning are available in all guest rooms (small extra charge for Air Con)

  • Check-Out is before 10:30 am / Check-In after 14.30pm. Early check in / late check-out, may be arranged with the managers

  • We request a deposit to confirm bookings for conferences and meetings but not for individual bookings – we would however request that you advise us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or amend your booking

  • The Juniper Tree relies on the suggested minimum donations (please email us for the donation rates) to cover our running costs. Payment can be made in cash in Thai Baht, by online banking or by MasterCard and Visa (subject to an additional charge of +2.5%).

Accommodation

Accommodation consists of 18 traditional Lanna style teak houses and 3 modern family bungalows.

The houses range from one to five-bedrooms, with a variation of single and king beds. The rooms have either 1 or 2 or 3 beds, all rooms have their own bathroom, some have their own balcony.

Singles people will have their own room (unless with a conference). We have two bedrooms, three bedrooms and four bedrooms for families to enjoy. Family groups can enjoy a five bedroom house with living area. Couples can enjoy king size bedrooms.

There is Air-conditioning and fans in all of the rooms, and coffee tea facilities. All rooms have their own fridges with water bottles provided. We provide filter or bottled water on the site. We provide all bedsheets and towels with towels provided for pool use. Soap, shampoo and shower gel is provided in the rooms for guests use.

Facilities

Enjoy lots of outside space with kids play grounds, swimming pool for all to enjoy, football pitch, badminton, table tennis and pickle ball. Bikes and scooters for the younger kids, and bikes to rent out for the adults, and a small gym.

Places around to rest, a prayer garden, prayer room and library for kids and adults. Indoor Play areas and a large dining room for up to 80 people (meals are eaten family style at set times, we provide breakfast, lunch and dinner daily)

There are laundry facilities with laundry soap for guests to use and we provide a laundry service for those families with younger kids.

Meetings & Groups

We look forward to receiving people for conferences and retreats to the Juniper Tree (bookings from March to November). We have a large conference room where we can seat 60 to 80 people and a small conference room. There is a small kitchen where we serve morning and afternoon tea/coffee and snacks.

We welcome small and larger groups that require and additionally offer overnight lodging. The conference rooms provide high quality functional – yet peaceful setting for meetings, conferences or training sessions. Chiang Mai is the gateway to the country’s north in what used to be the Lanna Kingdom. It is an international tourist destination with many attractions both within the city and surrounding areas. Although historical, Chiang Mai has all the facilities of a modern city with world class shopping malls and a good choice of modern hospitals and clinics. A number of countries have consulates in Chiang Mai for visa processing.

Shopping malls, coffee shops, and Chiang Mai’s famous night bazaar, day market and walking street markets are all within a short taxi drive. Many places to go and visit like waterfalls, elephant parks, waterparks, trail walking, old historic town and adventure activities like zip lining and white water rafting and visiting the hill tribes all around Chiang Mai.

By Air

Chiang Mai International Airport has frequent flights to Bangkok and offers direct connections to a growing number of Asian cities.
On arrival, you can book a taxi from the ‘limousine service’ desk. The Juniper Tree is 20-30 minutes away at a cost of around 200 Baht. An after-hours surcharge may apply.

By Train

There are several services per day between Chiang Mai and Bangkok. It takes approximately 12 hours and includes air-conditioned carriages and options for sleeper service. The railway station is 5 minutes away by taxi at a cost of around 100 Baht.

By Bus

Air-conditioned bus services between Chiang Mai and Bangkok are the cheapest method of transport and takes approximately 10 hours. The bus station is 20 minutes away by taxi.

We do not normally provide a pickup service as there are many taxis on arrival in Chiang Mai Airport. If you have booked with our taxi partner, please go to the correct place to meet your driver. The driver should be holding up a ‘Juniper Tree’ sign.

There are 3 distinct seasons in Chiang Mai. The cool, dry season is from December-February with temperatures ranging from 15⁰C-33⁰C. The hot, dry season is from March-May with temperatures ranging from 20⁰C-35⁰C. The rainy season is from June-October/November with temperatures ranging from 22⁰C-32⁰C. Humidity is higher and rainfall builds up, peaking in September. The normal pattern is occasional heavy showers rather than persistent rain lasting for days.
